“Chennai Through My Eyes: Life, People & Stories of a Taxi Driver”
🚗 Chennai Through My Eyes: Life, People & Stories of a Taxi Driver
“By Behind The Wheel”
I am not just a driver.
I am someone who has seen Chennai from every corner… every road… every kind of life.
For years, I worked long shifts — sometimes 16 hours a day.
From morning to midnight… my car moved, and so did my life.
Chennai is not one city.
It is many worlds living together.
On one side, there is the IT life.
In OMR Chennai, I see a different energy.
Morning and evening — people with laptop bags, focused minds, always running behind work.
But at night… OMR becomes something else.
Night tea shops open.
Men and women in casual dress, relaxing after a long day.
PG stays full of young people sharing dreams and struggles.
Small cafes stay alive till late.
Friends sit, talk, laugh.
Some go for bike rides… some take calm walks under street lights.
For me… Chennai nights are best in OMR.
There is peace… freedom… and a different kind of happiness.
Then comes the business world.
In Sowcarpet Chennai, everything moves fast.
Traffic, money, shops, and busy people.
Here, I have seen rich businessmen, heavy work pressure, and non-stop activity.
This place never really sleeps.
On another side, Chennai feels peaceful.
Areas like Anna Nagar Chennai and Adyar Chennai show a comfortable life.
Families, good roads, parks… a balanced lifestyle.
But not everyone lives like this.
There are also slum areas.
Life there is tough.
Struggles are real.
But still, people smile and move forward.
Some places are full of emotion.
Marina Beach — where people come to forget their pain.
Besant Nagar Beach — where evenings feel calm and peaceful.
I have dropped people who were happy…
and also people who were silently broken.
At Chennai Central Railway Station, I saw real life every day.
People arriving with dreams.
People leaving with memories.
Some excited… some scared… some just surviving.
Near Walltax Road Chennai, I saw loaders working day and night.
Hard work. Sweat. Survival.
This city is not easy for everyone.
As a taxi driver, I met all kinds of people.
North Indians new to Chennai…
Local people who know every street…
Rich, poor, kind, rude… every type.
But every person taught me something.
This job is not just driving.
It is understanding life.
Chennai is not just roads and buildings.
It is emotions… struggles… dreams… and survival.
Even today, when I drive…
I don’t just see roads.
I see stories.
